Hello friends, I am someone who never clicks on any links and only uses my phone for calls. But this morning around 11 o'clock, I fell for a RAT attack.
Around 11 o'clock, while playing CS2, I received 7-8 notifications on my phone regarding account recovery. I didn't pay much attention at first, but I wanted to take a look. When I checked, I noticed that someone had logged into my account from another location and changed the password. I quickly changed the password and regained control of the account, but they had already deleted my Instagram account.
I forgot to check the recovery email (the person had put their own email). This process lasted until 12 o'clock, and just my luck, my phone shut down. I turned it back on after it reached 80% charge, only to find that it had been reset. I couldn't believe my eyes, all my pictures, contacts, emails, messages, everything was gone. As I wondered how this could have happened, I realized I had to leave home because I have a tutorial, and I had no internet.
We had just returned from vacation a few days ago, so I had finished it there. After leaving home, my friend who was managing my accounts called me multiple times, but I couldn't answer because I was at the tutorial.
After leaving the tutorial around 5, I called my friend to find out what had happened, and she said she couldn't access her main account, most likely it had also been stolen. My house was a 30-minute bus ride away, so I rushed home and indeed, both my secondary and main accounts had been compromised. However, even though there were many valuable gaming accounts in my main account, they hadn't taken any of them, and I managed to recover the account.
But around 6 or 7, my phone reset again. I was truly baffled, I didn't understand how it was happening, what kind of power could instantly reset the phone, I was going crazy. The person kept trying to access the account multiple times and then suddenly stopped. When I turned on my phone, I got back my numbers and messages, but the pictures were gone. However, I am not upset because they could have taken much more.
In conclusion, I lost my Instagram account. I am contemplating deleting the account, but I can't bring myself to do it. If anyone can help, I would appreciate it. Are there any other precautions I can take against these attacks? What should I do if you could assist me, I would be very grateful.
