Link ads are being discontinued. We have decided to discontinue link ads based on feedback we have received from users, publishers, and advertisers, in order to modernize our available ad formats. Moving forward, we will focus on improving and enhancing ad formats to help boost your growth. What does this mean for you? As of October 3, 2021: • You will no longer be able to create new link ad units. • Your existing link ad units will be renamed by adding [previous link ad unit] to the end of the ad unit name. This applies to both responsive and fixed-size link ad units. • Responsive link ads will start displaying image ads on your sites. • Fixed-size link ad units will no longer be served on your sites. In cases where possible, each ad unit will be shrunk. In other cases, empty ads will be shown. Earnings In our experiments, we found that for a large portion of publishers, link ads performed as well as responsive image ads. We are continuously optimizing responsive image ads to enhance performance. You will be able to compare the performance of your link units before and after these changes through the ad unit report. Next steps: As of October 3, 2021, responsive link ads will start displaying image ads, so there is no need for any action on your part regarding responsive link ads. We thank you for your understanding and support as we continue to improve our products. Read more: Google Adsense Discontinuing Link Ads!
