Can Asp.Net Core be learned without knowing Asp.Net?

I know C#, and now I have started working on the ASP side. Currently, I am confused because I don't know ASP.NET. They say ASP.NET is outdated, learn ASP.NET Core instead. Would someone who doesn't know ASP.NET face any issues if they start learning ASP.NET Core? Can they learn it successfully?
