Can viruses be transmitted by clicking on links?

While scrolling through Twitter, I came across a link starting with bit. Ly to watch a war video, which redirected me to YouTube. It seemed to be something like IP change or an advertisement. Do you think my computer could get infected with a keylogger virus? What should I do?
