Copyright in Domain

Hello friends, I would like to get some opinions on a topic. I was going to buy a domain, but the .com extension was already taken. I then opted for the abbreviated version of that domain name, which I find more appealing and suitable for branding. However, the short domain I acquired turned out to be the name of a company, and there is only one week left before they officially launch their business without owning the domain. I recently purchased the domain. My concern is that no one from the company has contacted me yet, although I am certain they will. What steps should I take and will there be any issues? Kind regards.
