Does Virtual RAM work in VirtualBox?

I would like to install an operating system in VirtualBox, but I have only 8 GB of RAM, and even without running anything, 70% of the RAM is being used. Therefore, I am considering adding virtual RAM. Would adding virtual RAM work in VirtualBox?
