Does VPN Required While VPN Is Open in Windows for Kali Installed in the Virtual Machine?

Let me explain this. I have VMware Kali installed, VPN is active on Windows, but do I need to open VPN on Kali as well? So, when it's active on Windows, the IP on Kali is concealed as well, correct?
