ThemeForest and Codecanyon are online sales platforms owned by Envato Market. Envato Elements is often confused with CodeCanyon and ThemeForest. On the Envato Elements platform, you can purchase a monthly ($10-$20) or annual ($130-$200) membership to download all the content you need. With ThemeForest and CodeCanyon, membership is completely free; however, for each item you download and use, you must pay the specified selling price ($20-$80). Unlike Envato Elements, you cannot download content at your discretion on a monthly or annual basis. In this explanation, I will use a WordPress theme as an example content. Instead of a WordPress theme, you can think of any content on the platform. The same content may be available on both Envato Elements and ThemeForest. However, there may be some restrictions on the WordPress theme you download from Envato Elements compared to ThemeForest. In the WordPress theme from Envato Elements, using ready-made templates (demo import) may not be allowed, which is a common restriction. The WordPress theme from Envato Elements does not receive automatic update support. The support you can get from the developer for the WordPress theme on Envato Elements is very limited or not included as an option. Since the WordPress theme does not receive automatic update support, you will need to download and upload the theme to your website again as new versions are released (usually every 3-9 months). This is an optional choice but highly recommended for security, stability, and performance reasons. With new versions of the theme, bugs from previous versions are fixed, and security vulnerabilities are patched. Therefore, using the most up-to-date version of the WordPress theme is as important as using the latest versions of WordPress.
