Is there too much competition in web development?

Hello friends, as the title says. Do you think that web development in the Front End area could be oversaturated? I want to study programming and I am taking a course on Udemy about web development. However, I feel like there are too many people studying that or that there are many who already know about it, or that there may not be as much demand for it anymore. I am a beginner in all of this; this is just my opinion. I am also interested in mobile app development and software testing. Is it necessary to learn HTML and CSS before studying a programming branch?
