Hello, on 12.03.2024, with the Law No. 7499 Amending the Code of Criminal Procedure and Some Laws published in the Official Gazette No. 32484, changes were made to Article 9 titled "Transfer of Personal Data Abroad" of the Personal Data Protection Law. As envisaged in Law No. 7499, the Regulation on Procedures and Principles for the Transfer of Personal Data Abroad was published in the Official Gazette dated 10.07.2024 and entered into force. What is the most important change brought by the regulation? Under the new obligations introduced by Law No. 7499, when transferring personal data abroad, it was required to sign standard contracts and notify the Authority of these contracts within 5 days. While the obligation to notify within 5 days continues, in case of any changes in the information and explanations provided by the parties in the standard contract or termination of the standard contract, a notification to the Personal Data Protection Authority is now required.
