Hello, with the 34th provision of the Law Amending the Code of Criminal Procedure and Some Laws published in the Official Gazette dated 12.03.2024 and numbered 32484, a change was made to Article 9 titled "Transfer of Personal Data Abroad" of the Law on the Protection of Personal Data. As stipulated in Law No. 7499, the Regulation on Procedures and Principles Regarding the Transfer of Personal Data Abroad was published in the Official Gazette dated 10.07.2024 and entered into force. What is the most significant change brought by the Regulation? Under the new obligation introduced by Law No. 7499, when transferring personal data abroad, it was required to sign standard contracts and notify the Authority within 5 days of signing these contracts. Although the notification obligation within 5 days continues, in case of any changes in the information and explanations provided by the parties in the standard contract or the termination of the standard contract, a notification to the Personal Data Protection Authority is now also required.
