Two Account Alerts

I submitted the application in the evening hours. An email has arrived saying, "It appears that you have another AdSense account. Only one account is permitted per user. Please close the other account to use this one." I had applied via hotmail last year. I had forgotten about it. I will close that account, but I can't click on the "Account" section. There is a message saying, "This process typically takes a few days, but in some cases, it can take up to 2 weeks. We will inform you when everything is ready. Afterward, you can start earning money by placing ads on your site." I am having trouble understanding it properly. It's all a mess. What should I do? I sent a message through Feedback saying, "I want the account to be deleted." I wonder if that is enough?
