What is Bada?
Bada is a mobile operating system developed for smartphones. The word "Bada" means "ocean" in the Korean language.

Developed by Samsung, Bada is a mobile platform based on the Linux kernel. Majority of its source code is kept open with free software licenses. Bada is mainly used in entry-level and mid-range mobile phones. The aim is to expand the use of Bada in a wider range of products in the future, especially in smart televisions.

When Bada was first released, it was considered one of the best operating systems for social integration. Social network integration still continues to be a key feature. Contacts in the address book can be linked with social networks, and a lot of information can be pulled from these platforms. The address book can be used directly for messaging via social networks.

Bada uses the Samsung keyboard that supports T9 and Swype. With Bada 2.0, Samsung introduced the instant messaging application ChatOn. ChatOn is not only available on Bada but also supports platforms like iOS, Android, and Blackberry OS.

In Bada 2.0, the lock screen can be customized. Interactive and active flash content can be placed on the lock screen and background.
