What is GiFi?
GiFi is a wireless network technology that will replace the WiFi technology, allowing data communication at speeds of 5 Gbps. It was developed by NICTA (Australia's National Information and Communications Technology Research Centre). With embedded CMOS technology, it has a transmission frequency of up to 60 Gigahertz.
New possibilities provided by GiFi:
- HD DVDs with high resolution can be transferred from kiosks to PDAs in seconds.
- The data communication speed of WLAN 802.11n, which is 600 Mbit per second, is increased by 10 times.
